Nokia Planning Windows RT Tablet, Release Date Might Be In February 2013

It’s been almost a year since Nokia has been teasing its own tablet. We only heard that the Finish company is planning to release a Windows RT tablet, but no solid details have come out of the closet. However, it seems like things are about to change along with the Mobile World Congress. According to DigiTimes, three companies meaning¬†Microsoft, Qualcomm, and Compal Electronics are developing a Nokia Windows Rt tablet with a 10-inch screen.

The first rumor of Nokia’s secret tablet appeared at the beginning of 2012 saying that it would sport a¬†dual-core Qualcomm SoC and that the company’s first order in an amount of 200,000 units. After Microsoft made its Surface announcement, it seemed that Nokia delayed its tablet.

In case the rumors are true then Nokia will probably unveil its Windows Rt tablet at the Mobile World Congress. CES will take place next month, but having in mind that Nokia will not have a very big presence there, then the more probable scene where the company can launch its new product is the Mobile World Congress.

The specs of Nokia’s tablet remain yet to be confirmed, but according to some sources the device will be found on one of the US major carriers, AT&T. Marko Ahtisaari who is the head of design at Nokia announced earlier this year that a significant part of his time is spent for designing a new tablet. Even though the Windows 8 tablets had a rather slow start, a new product developed by Nokia might just speed thing up in encouraging customers and OEMs to accord more attention and money to the new OS.
