Sony Yuga Leaks Again, Features 5-inch Full HD Display

A lot of rumors have surface the web lately about the fact that Sony is preparing to launch a smartphone called Yuga. It the past couple of months, various news about Sony’s new device appeared, but the news was never confirmed by the Japanese company. Today, the Russian website called Mobile Review claims to have a prototype of the smartphone. The site reviews it in detail.

The Sony Yuga is said to be a pretty massive device being made of a glossy plastic. As it uses on-screen buttons, the phone lacks physical ones which is very cool as it has a smooth surface which is scarred only by the microphone grates and the speaker. The back of the device features a 12MP camera with LED flash, but also a microphone that can be used for video recording. The volume rocker is situated on the right edge of the phone while on the left you can find a microUSB and microHDMI port.

The Sony Yuga has a 5-inch screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, except the pixels utilized by the on-screen buttons placed on the bottom of the display. The downside is that the viewing angles are supposed to be rather small. The device sports a Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11a/b/g/n, which allows you to use it as a hotspot which can support several connected handsets (up to ten). Yuga will likely run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and it has support for 4G LTE. According to the photos, the phone is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core ARMv7 CPU and a Qualcomm Adreno 320 GPU.

Of course, the Russian website highlight the drawbacks of the Sony Yuga as well. The first one is related to its big screen which because its size consumes a lot of battery. The second problem is that the phone is getting too warm too fast, which is not making it quite pleasant to hold. The Russian reviewers claim that they have tested the device for a month and it got overheated many times. Clearly, a mobile phone that overheats until it becomes too unpleasant to hold in your hand or against your ear is a handset that has a serious problem which needs to be fixed. However, we can’t really say how the final product will come out because remember that the tested device is just a prototype.
