Windows Phone 7.8 Update To Roll Out By The End Of The Year

The waiting of the Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 7.5 users eager to update their smartphone’s software will come to an end in a few weeks, as soon as Windows Phone 7.8 will be released.

In late June, when Microsoft was announcing the “Windows Phone 8 revolution,” the Redmond-based giant dropped a bomb. It’s that the early Windows Phone adopters will not be able to upgrade their smartphones running on Windows Phone 7 or Windows Phone 7.8 to WP8. In an attempt to lower the frustration of the customers paying around $800 on a Nokia Lumia 900 only to find out it’s not upgradable to Windows Phone 8, Microsoft has developed Windows Phone 7.8.

Windows Phone 7.8 it’s an intermediary operating system, placed between Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8, which packs many of the aesthetic details that make Windows Phone 8 so special. Among them it’s the new start screen and the ability to adjust the size of the tiles. Unfortunately, no one except Microsoft knew when the new update will become available until now.

In an interview for BJD, Microsoft China vice-president has publicly unveiled fort the first time the Windows Phone 7.8 release date. So far the rumors were claiming that Windows Phone 7.8 will become available by the end of the year, and the Microsoft China vice-president has confirmed the rumors. On the same occasion, the Microsoft official has also promised that the first Windows Phone 8 terminals will hit the Chinese stores in the coming weeks.

As a whole, even though the scenery described above targets the Chinese territory, Microsoft dint’t treated the markets on which it activates differently when it came to updates, so far.

All we can do now is to hope that Microsoft did a better job with Windows Phone 7.8 than it did with WP 8. With fewer stability problems and improved battery life, Windows Phone 7.8 has the likes to become a successful operating system on the emergent markets.
