BlackBerry Laguna, London Lisbon Running On BlackBerry 10 OS Specifications Leaked

Everybody is seeing BlackBerry 10 OS and the new smartphone models underpinned by this platform as RIM’s last chance to survive on a market dominated by Android phones and Apple’s iPhone. At BlackBerry Jam 2012, the company’s officials demoed some of BlackBerry 10 OS’ features, but there’s no sign of an official release date for the first terminals running on the new OS.

The guys at Rapidberry.net got their hands on the technical specifiactions of three new BlackBerry 10 OS devices, Laguna, London, and Lisbon. But let’s talk the chitchat and see the specs of three new BlackBerry 10 smartphones that might debut in Q1 2013.

BlackBerry Laguna will reportedly debut at Verizon and it comes with a 4.2-inch display with 1,280 x 768 pixels resolution. The smartphone is part of the L Series and comes with dual-core Krait processor (Snapdragon S4), 1 GB of RAM, specs similar to those of the new Windows Phone 8 models. LTE support, WiFi dual band a/b/g/n, WiFi Direct, NFC and a microHDMI port are also on BlackBerry Laguna’s specs list. On the back of the device there’s an 8 megapixel camera with Full HD video recording that can be stored on its 16 GB of internal storange expandable via microSD card.

BlackBerry Laguna features a 1,800 mAh battery, will come pre-loaded with BlackBerry 10 OS and will most likely debut in early 2013. The terminal is 9 mm thick and also comes with a front-facing 2 megapixel camera, GPS, DLNA and a dual stereo mic with noise reduction.

You’ve probably hared about BlackBerry London before, as the rumors talking about this smartphone have appeared almost a year ago, being touted as the first BB 10 device.

London, codenamed R072 packs a TI OMAP4 CPU, unlike the Laguna which comes with a Snapdragon SoC. I am recommending you to take the news with a pinch of salt, but it seems that the new model is 9 mm thick and comes with quad band HSPA/UMTS support, a 4.2-inch display with 1,280 x 768 pixels and 15:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone incorporates an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and 1,080p video capture at 30 fps, and an user-facing camera with a 2 megapixel sensor.

The BlackBerry 10-powered smartphone also features 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of flash storage and a hot swap microSD card slot. BlackBerry can be used as a mobile 4G WiFi hotspot, supports WiFi in all standards, comes with GPS, NFC, microHDMI, DLNA and has a 1,800 mAh battery. You can see that 90% of BlackBerry London’s technical specifications are similar to those of Laguna, thus the two devices might actually be different variants of the same smartphone, that will be sold on different markets. It seems though that BlackBerry’s L Series line-up includes the Lisbon and Laguna models, dedicated to the US market, while BlackBerry London will be global version.

Next up is BlackBerry Lisbon. As you probably expected runs BlackBerry 10 out of the box. It sports a 4.2-inch touch panel with a resolution of 1,280 x 768 pixels and a pixel density of 355 ppi. It has a Qualcomm MSM8960 processor, 1 GB of RAM, plus 16 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot.

In terms of connectivity, BlackBerry Lisbon supports LTE, 3G, WiFi a/b/g/n, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth, DLNA, and GPS. It has a primary 8 megapixel camera with full HD video capture and a 2 megapixel unit for video calls. Just like its brothers, London and Laguna, is 9 mm thick and is powered by a 1,800 mAh battery.

Judging by the technical specifications, BlackBerry Lisbon will be a high-end smartphone as it comes with a Qualcomm SoC that is highly appreciated among in the Android environment. The 4.2-inch display brings the same resolution you will find on Nokia Lumia 920 4.5-inch screen or on LG Optimus G’s 4.7-inch touch panel.

Suddenly RIM’s future is not so dark anymore, but BlackBerry 10 stability and reliability will matter the most. Competitors like iOS 6, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and Windows Phone 8 have set the standards pretty high.
