As you probably know, Apple has unveiled the new iPhone 5 yesterday morning, at an event in San Francisco. The new smartphone is exactly how the rumors and leaked parts and photos have indicated. So after months of waiting we officially get to know the official iPhone 5 price and release date.

Tim Cook has opened the iPhone 5 launch keynote, providing the usual Apple figures and statistics for the last year. Therefore we found at that there are Apple stores in 12 countries now and that 83 million people visited them. Tim Cook also highlighted that 84 million iPad units have been sold since the launch of this product. Mountain Lion was launched in July and it already reached 7 million upgrades, said Apple’s CEO. The MacBook Pro with Retina Display was praised and we received some statistics here, as well.

Then, after all these glorious statistics Phil Schiller jumped on the stage to present the product of the day: iPhone 5. The new iPhone is made entirely of aluminium and glass. The smartphone comes with an Apple A6 SoC which promises twice the performance of the iPhone 4S’ CPU and two times faster graphics processing. iPhone 5 also comes with 4G LTE support and the carriers that will retail the new product were officially unveiled.

In terms of design, the new iPhone 5 is only 7.6 mm thick, a drop of 18% compared to the iPhone 4S. The terminal weighs in 112 grams, 20% lighter than iPhone 4S. The width of the device remained the same as the iPhone 4S’ and iPhone 4′s, but the new iPhone 5 is taller and accommodates a new 4-inch display. Of course, the new display uses Retina technology, and iPhone 5 supports a resolution of 1,136 x 640 pixels, with 16:9 aspect ratio. This translates into a pixel density of 326 ppi, a performance for the current market. The screen displays a fifth row of icons compared to the traditional for rows interface of the iOS.

The new iPhone 5 also brings a new connector named Lightning which allows the users to introduce it in the terminal on any side. There’s an 8 megapixel camera on the back of the device, while the front panel accommodates the FaceTime camera capable of 720p video capture. Basically the primary camera is the same unit on iPhone 4S, with small quality and size upgrades. iPhone 5 sports a camera with backside illumination sensor, f/24 aperture and 3,264 x 2,448 pixels resolution. The camera also comes with a low light dynamic model, which improves the quality of the pictures take in low light conditions. As you probably expected it has 1080p video recording capabilities.

Returning to the Lightning port, Apple has promised new accessories and adapters that allows you to connect the new iPhone to older Apple products.
