HTC To Unveil Three New Windows Phone 8 Smartphones Next Week

You probably know that on September 19th HTC will host a press event, most likely for the debut of first Windows Phone 8 smartphones that will soon join the line-up of the Taiwan-based company.

There were some rumors saying that the Taiwanese phone maker will launch its first phablet or a possibly a new tablet, but the launch of its first Windows Phone 8 terminals seems most likely. We are talking about a WP8-powered trio, with HTC Rio, Accord and Zenith being the protagonists.

The fall of 2012 will be very busy for the smartphone and tablet enthusiasts. Samsung and Sony had some pretty crowded events at IFA Berlin 012, then Nokia and Motorola unveiled new terminals on September 5th, a day later Amazon unveiled its new Kindle Fire line-up, while Apple prepares “something special” for September 12th. HTC must stay close to the competition, thus it sent the invitations for an event that takes place on September 19th.

We will definitively be able to see some more new phones next week, maybe a tablet, too. HTC’s partnership with Microsoft is about developing Windows Phone 8 smartphones, as the Taiwanese’s application to join the Windows RT tablet program was rejected by the Redmond-based giant, as the Asian company has too little experience in the business.

I would say that was a hard blow for HTC. I remind you that back when Windows Phone 7 was launched, HTC and Microsoft have intensively worked together and the Taiwan-based phone maker was the company to launch the most WP7 models.

But let’s return to HTC’s next week press event. So far we knew the company’s smartphones by their nicknames: HTC Zenith which will be renamed as HTC 8X, Accord (8S) and Rio (8V). It seems that HTC will keep the letters introduced by the One line-up, now receiving an 8, which obviously stands for Windows Phone 8. HTC 8X will be the flagship of the Windows Phone 8 range, the second one, 8S will be the mid-range solution, while 8V will be a budget / entry-level smartphone.

Rumor has it that HTC 8X will arrive with a 4.7-inch Super-LCD2 display with 1,280 x 720 pixels, dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz, 3G support, NFC chip and 8 megapixel camera with full HD video recording capabilities.

On the other hand HTC 8S will reportedly sport a HD Super LCD display, dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8960, 8 or 16 GB of internal storage, NFC and 3G and 8 megapixel camera.

Least, but not last, it seems that HTC 8V will feature a smaller display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, dual-core Qualcomm S4 MSM8227 processor, 512 MB of RAM, 3G (up to 14.4 Mbps) and a camera with 5 megapixels sensor.

As I mentioned above, all the new smartphones will come pre-loaded with Windows Phone 8 on board. Anyway we will be able to see all the details next week at the company’s press event.
