Samsung Unveils Quad-core, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean-powered Galaxy Camera

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 made the headlines even before the official launch at Samsung Unpacked event, so everybody expected to see it in flash at IFA 2012. One of the biggest surprises of the aforementioned event was the Samsung Galaxy Camera, running on Android.

At IFA Berlin 2012 electronics trade show, Samsung announced company’s first camera running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Samsung Galaxy Camera comes with a 16.4 megapixel sensor, 21x optical zoom and WiFi connectivity.

The first camera running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean manufactured by the South-Korean company aims to lure the users who want to take high-quality photos, then share them in the easiest way possible, using the WiFi.

The 21x optic zoom allows you to keep the picture quality as high as possible, while the OIS is meant to improve their clarity. The 16 megapixel BSI CMOS 1/2.3″ can snap pictures in vibrating colors at a dazzling resolution, while the 23 mm lens assures wide views, way above what the camera of a smartphone is capable of. The video feature of Samsung Galaxy Camera allows the user to record videos at full HD 1080p resolution. The BSI CMOS sensor is also capable of recording HD videos at 120 fps then playback them in slow motion.

Samsung Galaxy Camera features an 4.8-inch LCD HD Super Clear underpinned by an Exynos 4412 chipset based on for Cortex A9 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz. The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean-powered camera also comes with 8 GB of internal storage and microSD card slot.

In terms of connectivity, the gadget sportsĀ G / 4G, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, HDMI 1.4, GPS, GLONASS.

Samsung’s smart camera weighs in 305 grams, is 19.1 mm thick and features a 1,650 mAh battery.
