Amazon Kindle Fire 2 Release Date Is September 6th

Amazon Kindle Fire 2 Release Date Is September 6th

It looks like the world’s largest online retailer Amazon, will launch the next-gen Kindle Fire tablet along with a new line-up of e-readers in early September.

Last Thursday, Amazon sent out the invitations for a press event that will be held in San Francisco, CA on September 6th, writes Reuters. The invitation doesn’t reveal details about the products that will be unveiled at the San Francisco-based event, but everybody is gossiping that is about the new Kindle Fire 2.

Most of the tech blogs are writing that the online retailer giant will unveil the next-gen Amazon tablet on September 6th, unofficially dubbed Kindle Fire, along with a new line-up of e-readers. Considering that the first Amazon tablet, the popular Kindle Fire, was introduced about a year ago, the rumors saying that the next-gen Amazon tablet will be unveiled at the September 6th event seem to be pretty accurate.

The Amazon press conference was scheduled a few days ahead of the highly-anticipated Apple event, where the new iPhone 5 will be introduced.

At last year’s event, Amazon showcased the Kindle Fire tablet, a 7-inch slate running on Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread, that came with a price way below Apple’s iPad.

The first Kindle Fire is running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a user interface highly customized by the Amazon software engineers and is underpinned by a dual-core 1 GHz processor. Amazon Kindle Fire also sports 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal flash storage. The Amazon tablet was warmly welcomed by the consumers and quickly became the best-selling Android tablet around, mostly because of its $199 price tag.

The analysts are saying that the next Kindle Fire, rumored to debut late September, will be lighter and slimmer than its predecessor. Kindle Fire 2 might come with a camera and a better display, with WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution, similar to Google’s tablet, Nexus 7.

If Amazon’s tablet comes with a quad-core chipset, too, then the fight on the affordable tablet segment will heat up, now that Google has its own slate on the market and rumors are pointing that Apple, too, will launch a cheap 7.85-inch iPad Mini.

Anyway, in about two weeks we should be able know whether the Amazon event is really about the launch of the Kindle Fire 2 tablet and the new Kindle e-readers line-up.
