BlackBerry 10 OS Smartphones To Feature Quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro Processors And HD Displays

I have to admit and say that I am not seeing a bright future for the company that basically invented the email for phones, Research in Motion. But there’s still hope for RIM as the BlackBerry 10 OS terminals might be what the Canadian phone maker needs in order to survive.

We’ve recently heard from sources that the new BlackBerry 10 OS smartphones will come with HD displays, and today we learn that the new devices might come with very powerful processors, too.

Rumor has it that the BlackBerry 10 OS smartphones will come with the already-popular Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, a powerful quad-core solution helped by an Adreno 320 GPU. The Qualcomm officials have already confirmed that besides LG and Xiaomi, RIM will also use this new processor on the terminals that will be introduced sometime in early 2013.

Apparently, RIM will also use Snapdragon S5 CPUs, as well, for the BlackBerry smartphones that will hit the market mid 2013, thus the Canadians might still have some aces up the sleeve. The good news is that the new Qualcomm chipset has support for LTE/HSPA+/4G, thus the RIM devices will also have good connectivity features.

After the Snapdragon S4 chipset have registered high demand from the companies using it in their devices, Qualcomm had serious troubles with the stocks of CPUs manufactured on 28 nm architecture. The problems will soon be solved, thus the company will start to honor all the orders in time by the time the new BlackBerry 10 OS smartphones will be launched.

Meanwhile, BlackBerry uploaded the below video on their official Youtube channel, trying to explain what LTE really is. This might actually be a teaser for the rumored PlayBook LTE tablet, or maybe for the upcoming LTE friendly smartphones running on BlackBerry 10 OS. Do you still trust RIM after their recent financial troubles?
