Next Nexus Smartphones To Be Developed By LG, Sony And Samsung: Optimus Nexus, Xperia Nexus And Galaxy Nexus 2

A few months ago there were some rumors voicing that this year all the big smartphone makers have teamed-up with Google in order to co-develop several new Nexus phones. The terminals were supposed to be introduced at an event celebrating Androids’ fifth birthday.

Of course, at that moment we all thought that the rumors are absurd and less likely to happen, but a similar rumor surfaced again, this time backed-up by a roadmap belonging to Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo that lists not less than three new Nexus terminals.

According to the Japan-based website Android Noodles, with connections inside NTT DoCoMo, we are talking about three new Nexus smartphones, manufactured by LG, Sony and Samsung. The same source claims that the names of the three new Android dev smartphones will be Galaxy Nexus 2, LG Optimus Nexus and Sony Xperia Nexus.

It’s interesting though that HTC and Motorola were left behind by the Mountain View-based search giant, or maybe rescheduled for a second wave of models, probably for the first quarter of 2013, when Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will reportedly debut. Usually, Google only launched a single Nexus model, a device that was supposed to define the next year’s standards for the Android-powered smartphones.

The launch of multiple Nexus models might lower the value of this brand, but in the same time it would increase partners’ trust in Google, the search engine giant.

To be honest, I would really like to see how an Asus Nexus smartphone would look like, especially that the Taiwan-based company did a great job with the Nexus 7 tablet and the PadFone device, which is pretty awesome.

What would be in your opinion the best company to manufacture a new Nexus smartphone? Here are some options: HTC, Huawei, Acer, LG, Sony, Samsung, ASUS, Lenovo, Dell, HP and Fujitsu.
