Nexus 7 European Release Date And Price Are September 3rd For €200

The new affordable Google Nexus 7 is on everyone’s lips and many voices are saying that this is the device that will turn the balance into Android’s favor on the tablet market. So far, the 7-inch slate is available for the North American market, but there are some clues indicating that the already-popular Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet will soon arrive on the European market, too.

The journalists at Techcrunch are writing that Google is preparing the “Normandy Landing,” as the terminal will first hit the French market.

Nexus 7 is already available for purchase in Great Britain, USA, Canada, but this product is already available on other countries, as well, but unofficial, for the time being.

The first Google tablet will officially arrive in France on September 3rd and we are expecting to become available in all the European countries about a week later. Techcrouch confirms the rumor, quoting numerous France-based retailers, like Fnac, Darty and Boulanger. The retailers in Dumas’ homeland will sell the 16 GB Nexus 7 model at a price of €249.90. Therefore, the 8 GB version might cust as much as €200.

If you are reading this from Europe, you should probably want to know that there’s no possibility to pre-order the device, even though Fnac have mistakenly listed a pre-orders page. Anyway, it will be interesting to see whether the tablet will be available for purchase via Google Play in any of the EU countries.

After France, the tablet should arrive in Italy, Germany and Spain, followed by the rest European countries mid September.

The Nexus 7 tablet co-developed by Asus and Google was introduced at this year’s Google I/O edition, and is world’s first device to come pre-loaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Nexus 7 sports a 7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD display with 800 x 1280 pixels resolution, 1 GB of RAM and 8 or 16 GB of internal flash storage.

The tablet is underpinned by a Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset based on four Cortex A9 cores clocked at 1.3 GHz and helped by a ULP GeForce GPU. It has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, NFC, microUSB 2.0 and a front-facing 1.2 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities.

The Nexus 7 was launched as a response to Amazon’s Kindle Fire success on the Android tablet market, and rumor has it that Apple will also enter the race for the 7-inch segment, with a new, cheaper iOS-powered tablet, unofficially dubbed iPad Mini.
