Upgraded Galaxy Nexus In The Works?

Upgraded Galaxy Nexus In The Works?

Even though it sounds insane for Samsung risking to launch another powerful smartphone so soon after the official debut of Galaxy S3, the rumor mill speaks about an upgraded Galaxy Nexus.

It’s about a list of compared technical specifications, discovered by the guys at Sammobile, putting side-by-side Galaxy Nexus, the “new Galaxy Nexus” (codenamed GT-I9260) and the popular Samsung Galaxy S3.

It seems that the new dev smartphone, co-developed by Google and Samsung, Galaxy Nexus GT-I9260, will keep the 4.65-inch Super AMOLED display with HD resolution installed on its predecessor, but it will come with a more powerful processor. Rumor has it that Galaxy Nexus GT-I9260 will sport a 1.5 GHz CPU instead of 1.2 GHz, making us thing it might be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 unit.

The camera will also be upgraded, from 5 megapixels to 8. The GNex’s primary camera was seen as the device’s Achilles’ heel and the South Koreans decided to change that. The front-facing camera was also improved, now coming with an 1.9 megapixel sensor instead of 1.3 megapixels.

Reports are indicating that the new Galaxy Nexus GT-I9260 will feature a microSD card slot, which is great news, as its predecessor was stuck on the 16 GB offered by the internal flash storage.

Summing up, the new Galaxy Nexus seems to be just a slight upgrade of what the Android fanboys like to call the GNex. At some point the rumors were suggesting that not less than five Nexus terminals will hit the market this fall, with the occasion of Android’s birthday, but it seems that in the end they were gust rumors.

So, what are you thinking, will the new Nexus affect Samsung Galaxy S3′s sales? Or maybe Samsung and Google prepared it to go against Apple’s iPhone 5…
