Windows 8 Pro Price Cut Off To $69.99

Windows 8 Pro developed by Microsoft is on its way and it seems that after the promotional price of $69.99 set until the end of January 2013, the operating system will be priced at $199, according to some sources  that wanted to keep their anonymity. The company also has in plan to provide a Windows 8 to Windows 8 Pro upgrade for only $69.99. This option is available at retails stores and the price will be $99.99 as of January 31.

Previously, the company revealed that people who want to upgrade the OS to Windows 8 Pro from older versions such as Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7, can do it for only $39.99. The offers stands only if the users make the upgrade online, but the downloadable content doesn’t include a DVD option. The retailers will have a $69.99 Windows 8 Pro option in stores which might be available as a standard full version of the operating system for the users who don’t own an older copy.

All the users will be able to purchase their Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro copies from retail stores starting on October 26th.

As you already know, one major new feature of Microsoft’s Windows 8 OS is its Metro design language which brings a totally new style for desktops computers, laptops and tablets. Among its numerous features we can name a brand new start screen, native support for USB 3.0, Internet Explorer 10, Windows To Go, support for UEFI SecureBoot, and a new Windows Defender security system that apart from combating spyware, it’s very effective against malware as well.

The new operating system comes in four editions meaning Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, Windows 8 Enterprise, and Windows RT. When it comes to the first three editions, the hardware requirements are not that different from the requirements of Windows 7. However, Windows RT is designed to run on tablets with ARM architecture and the hardware requirements are distinct.

The retail stores will only offer Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro, Windows 8 Enterprise and Windows RT will not be available at retail outlets.
