Acer Liquid Gallant With Android Ice Cream Sandwich Unveiled Ahead Of IFA 2012

A week ahead of the official debut of the IFA Berlin 2012 trade show, Acer announced two new Android Ice Cream Sandwich-powered terminals which will hit the market in September, concentrating on the low-cost segment of the market.

Based on a MediaTek MT6575 processor, a cheap hardware solution that comes with a single-core ARM Cortex A9 clocked at 1 GHz and a PowerVR SGX531T graphic processing unit, the two new Liquid Gallant terminals have the same technical specifications, the only difference between them being the dual-SIM support offered by the Duo model.

The Liquid Gallant and Liquid Gallant Duo terminals come with a 4.3-inch display and qHD resolution, 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card. The two new Acer smartphones come with a 5 megapixel camera and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n module.

Both the Acer Liquid Gallant and Acer Liquid Gallant Duo will be available in two body colors, Gentile Black and Ceramic White. Courtesy of the cheap MediaTek hardware platform, also compatible with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Acer’s new smartphones should come with an affordable price tag.

Summing up, the already crowded Android ecosystem will soon welcome two more low-end smartphones, this time coming from a company, popular for their PC. On the other hand, the low-cost MediaTek chipset is becoming the best solution for the phone makers that want to penetrate the affordable smartphones market.
