Global LG Optimus Vu To Come With A Quad-core Tegra 3 CPU

LG Optimus Vu is available for purchase in South Korea for a while now, but since it debuted in its homeland we haven’t heard anything about the international version. Until now.

It seems that the South Korea-based company thought that a pahblet underpinned by a dual-core Qualcomm chipset won’t be success on the global market, mostly because Samsung will soon unveil the Galaxy Note 2 sharing Galaxy S3′s quad-core Exynos 4 Quad chipset. Therefore, LG fitted a Tegra 3 quad-core CPU on the international version of their 5-inch phablet.

The Asians have some experience with the Tegra 3 (also included in the LG Optimus 4X HD). The Tegra 3 CPU fits the Europeans’ demands like a glove. It’s quad-core, it’s fast, and it doesn’t have to come with 4G LTE support, as the standard is not widespread, like it happens on the North American or South Korean Market, where the Snapdragon S3 or S4 solutions are more common.

Therefore the international LG Optimus Vu will come with a 5-inch HD-IPS LCD with a resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels and 16 million colors, will be powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU with four cores. Optimus Vu also sports 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal flash storage.

The LG phablet comes pre-loaded with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but the Asian company promised that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update will roll out soon. In terms of connectivity it comes with 3G, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi direct, DLNA, bluetooth 3.0, microUSB, 3.5 mm jack and GPS.

Optimus Vu has an 8 megapixel primary camera with autofocus, LED flash, a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera and a 2,080 mAh battery. The smartphone is 8.5 mm thick and weighs in 168 grams.

The 5-inch LG device will be a direct competitor of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2, which will reportedly bring a 5.5-inch HD display, Exynos 4 Quad chipset, 1 GB of RAM, Android 4.0 ICS, 8 megapixel camera and 2,600 mAh battery. LG’s only hope is the price, as it might be their only weapon against the new Samsung phablet.
