Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update For LG Optimus 2X Might Eventually Roll Out

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update For LG Optimus 2X Might Eventually Roll Out

The whole Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for LG Optimus 2X is a bitter-sweet story. LG is definitely not enjoying the best of feedbacks after the Taiwanese company have delayed the firmware update several times. Many of the LG smartphone owners are annoyed that neither LG Optimus Sol nor Optimus Black will receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

It was initially rumored that LG Optmius 2X will not receive the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update, even though it’s a dual-core smartphone with Tegra 2 chipset clocked at 1 GHz, 512 MB of RAM, ULP GeForece GPU and 8 GB of internal flash storage.

Judging by the technical specifications there’s no reason for the world’s first dual-core smartphone not to receive the software update. Both it’s SoC and the internal storage are enough to meet the  requirements of Android 4.0 ICS operating system.

LG Canada announced that LG Optimus 2X will not receive Android 4.0, while LG South Korea says that they are currently working around the clock to roll out the firmware update. The Android 4.0 ICS update for LG Optumus 2X should become available for download in Q3 2012, thus you’ll have less than one and a half months to wait.

The Android 4.0 firmware update could only roll out for the South Korean Optimus 2X terminals, while the global owners might be left behind, even though I see no reason why the firmware update shouldn’t be ported world wide.

Since there are so many problems about Android 4.0 update, then, if you own an Optimus 2X you shouldn’t even dream of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. This type of negative feedback shoots back at the high-end LG smartphones like Optimus 4X HD. The consumers will think twice before purchasing an LG Android smartphone, thinking that their handheld might be stuck on some “primitive” firmware.
