Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 With Windows 8 To Take On The Business Segment

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 With Windows 8 To Take On The Business Segment

Even though Lenovo won’t find themselves in the first wave of OEMs that will release Windows RT tablets, but the China-based company will launch a Windows 8 tablet after all.

Called Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2, it will aim at the business environment, just like its successor, ThinkPad Tablet, an Android 3.0 solution with Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset.

According to the documents that ended up on The Verge‘s hands, Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 will be underpinned by a dual-core Intel Clover Trail processor and it will sport 2 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal flash storage, plus a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x 768 pixels.

Just like ThinkPad Tablet, the new Windows 8-powered tablet will come with a docking station and stylus. We’ve also found a 3G/4G model, fingerprint reader and NFC chip on the technical specifications sheet of Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2.

According to the same leaked documents, Lenovo plans to promote their Windows 8 Pro tablet as a powerful alternative for Apple’s iPad, but only on the business segment, with strengths that will lure the corporatists.

For the time being, there are no details about the price or about the release date of Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2. Anyway we are expecting the tablet to be announced one or two months after the official launch of Windows 8, hitting the market in the first quarter of 2013.
