Wikipad, The First Gaming Tablet, Will Be Better Than Nexus 7

Wikipad announced the technical specifications of their first tablet dedicated to video game enthusiasts. According to VentureBeat, WikiPad will be more powerful and cheaper than Google Nexus 7, its main rival.

Wikipad has a 10-inch display and a design dominated by physical controls specific to a gaming console.

The tablet will sport a 10.1-inch IPS 16:10 display with a resolution of 1,280 x 800. Wikipad is 8.6 mm thick, being a little bit bigger than iPad 2, but 40 grams lighter than Apple’s tablet, as it weighs in 560 grams.

What’s more important is that Wikipad has a quad-core Tegra 3 (T30) processor clocked at 1.4 GHz which maybe makes it more powerful than Nexus 7.

The tablet with a less common design for a device of its kind also sports an 8 megapixel primary camera, a front-facing 2 megapixel sensor and it will have a battery that will get it through six continuous hours of gaming.

Wikipad also comes with 1 GB of RAM (DDR2), is running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and it will have at least 16 GB of internal flash storage.

Maybe the most interesting feature of the new gaming tablet are the controllers, reminding me of an Xbox 360 console.

Wikipad will hit the market during the Christmass shopping season. No details regarding the price have been unveiled, but most of the analysts are saying that Wikipad will be cheaper than its main rival, Nexus 7.
