No Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update For LG Optimus Black And Optimus 2X

It was announce via the official Twitter channel of LG Canada that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware update for LG Optimus Black will not roll out, even though the South Korean initially promised the contrary.

A couple of days ago, HTC also said that one of the smartphones that was their flagship won’t receive Android 4.0 – I am talking about HTC Desire HD.

On this occasion we also found out that not even LG Optimus 2X will receive Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich – powered by a dual-core Tegra 2 CPU, featuring 8 GB of storage. One of the reasons for which some devices doesn’t receive then Android ICS update is the storage, thus I see no reason why Optimus 2X wouldn’t receive the new firmware.

I guess that LG will issue an official press statement to unveil the reasons why LG Optimus Black and Optimus 2X aren’t receiving the Android 4.0 update.

LG Optimus black features a 4-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, a single core TI OMAP 3630 processor clocked at 1 GHz with PowerVR SGX530 GPU, 512 MB of RAM, 2 GB of internal storage and microSD support of up to 32 GB.

On the other hand LG Optimus 2X is underpinned by a dual-core 1 GHz Tegra 2 chipset manufactured by Nvidia and helped by a ULP GeForce GPU. Optimus 2X sports a 480 x 800 pixels 4-inch IPS LCD display, 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal flash storage and microSD slot (up to 32 GB).
