Microsoft Surface Release Date Synchronized With Windows 8 Debut

Microsoft announced that their new Microsoft Surface tablets, developed for their new Windows 8 operating system, will become available on the same day their OS will debut: October 26th, 2012.

Even though the release date was not mentioned so far, the official announcement confirms that the Microsoft Surface tablet with Windows RT, Windows 8 for devices processors underpinned by ARM architecture, will arrive in October, writes CNet.

The new tablet PC, Microsoft Surface with Windows 8 Pro, based on Intel’s chipsets with x86 architecture will become available 3 months later, in 2013, according to the information provided by Microsoft.

Even though Microsoft have detailed the technical specifications and unveiled the release date of their own-branded tablets, the prices are still a mystery.

According to the a Swedish online retailer, Webhallen, the cheapest version of the Microsoft Surface Windows RT tablet, the 32 GB model, will have a price of €830, placing it above the $629 iPad 3 WiFi + Cellular.

Microsoft Surface comes pre-loaded with Windows RT and features a 10.6-inch ClearType HD display, ARM-based chipset, 32 or 64 GB of internal storage and microSD card slot, plus WiFi, USB 2.0 and micro HDMI.

On the other hand Microsoft Surface Pro sports a 10.6-inch ClearType full HD display, a dual-core Inter Core i5 CPU, 64 or 128 GB of internal flash storage, expandable via microSDXC card. It features USB 3.0, WiFi, and Mini DisplayPort.
