HTC One X+ With Quad-core 1.7 GHz Tegra 3 CPU Coming At T-Mobile On September 26th

A leak of the US-based carrier, T-Mobile, was talking about a mysterious HTC terminal in early July, code named Era 42. A new rumor is indicating that the terminal might be an upgraded variant of the HTC One X, the flagship smartphone of the Taiwanese company, coming with an overclocked CPU.

Era 42 might soon become available at T-Mobile, named HTC One X+ and, I have to admit, when I first heard the rumor about a HTC smartphone with a quad-core 1.7 GHz I instantly thought of a 5-inch phablet.

A couple of weeks ago a series of benchmark tests made on a 5-inch HTC smartphone have hit the web. This Terga 3+ CPU is actually a road-opener, as it might actually include an Icera modem for 4G LTE connectivity. As you know, on the US market Qualcomm were chosen over Nvidia, as chipsts like Snapdragon S4 are doing a better job on the LTE networks compared with the Tegra 3 CPUs (it doesn’t come with 4G support).

The Tegra 3 is having an LTE issue, that’s why Nvidia acquired Icera, the British fabless semiconductor company. The American company will soon integrate Icera’s technologies into their new Nvidia SoCs. If the rumors are accurate, then T-Mobile will launch HTC One X+ on September 26.

Except for the Tegra 3+ SoC, HTC One X+ might come with the same technical specifications as the One X: a 4.7-inch Super IPS LCD2, 1 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage (no microSD card slot) and 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus, full HD video recording capabilities and HTC Image Chip.

Hopefully, HTC One X+ and its quad-core Tegra 3+ chipset clocked at 1.7 GHz will hit other markets as well, as I am pretty sure that the Europeans will warmly welcome an alternative to Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X.
