Windows 8 Release Date Officially Confirmed For October

On Monday, at Worldwide Partner Conference, Microsoft announced that the official Windows 8 release date was set for October. The company’s officials have added that the final version will be released to their partners in August and the first machines running the new version of the popular operating system will be launched during the fall. The Windows users will be able to enjoy the latest version in late October.

The announcement made by Tami Reller was also confirmed on Microsoft’s official blog. She added that Windows 8 will be released on 213 markets and it will support 109 languages.

The company’s CFO also talked about the success of the previous version, Windows 7, which is one of the most popular operating systems in history, with over 630 millionĀ licencesĀ sold.

The Windows XP and Windows 7 users will be able to upgraded their operating systems to Windows 8 and will benefit from an attractive offer. Unlike the DVD upgrade which costs $69.99, the Windows 8 upgrade over the internet will have a price of only $39.99, according to a post on the official blog of the American company.

Windows 8 Release Preview includes the Internet Explorer 10 web browser, comes with support for Adobe Flash and brings a suite of new Windows 8 apps which will allow you to easily sign into your Hotmail, SkyDrive and Messenger accounts.

Until now, Windows was only available for machines underpinned by x86 and x64 devices, but Windows 8 will be available in three different versions.

The first one, Windows RT, was developed for the tablets and devices based on processors manufactured on ARM architecture, while Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro will be compatible with x86 and x64 machines.

Windows 8 Pro will hit the market pre-loaded with Windows Media Center add-on. Windows Media Center can be downloaded from the Microsoft website along with other encryption, productivity and PC management tools.

Rumor has it that once the new Windows 8 is officially released, 40 PCs and 5 tablets pre-loaded with Windows 8 will hit the market.

Windows 8 boots in just 8 seconds and the installation will take only 52 minutes, compared to the Windows 7 upgrade that took an average of 513 minutes. The new Microsoft operating system can be installed with only 11 clicks, according to an article on Building Windows 8 blog.

Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 8, will have a dedicated app store, similar to Apple’s iTunes Store and Android’s Google Play.
