Google Nexus 7 Officially Launched, Release Date And Price Are Mid-June For $199

At Google I/O 2012 ongoing event, the search engine giant introduced the Nexus 7 tablet. It is world’s first handheld to leave the factory gates with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board. Google Nexus 7 is manufactured by ASUS (a sister of the Eee Pad MeMO ME37oT tablet).

With a 7-inch IPS HD display with a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels and a scratch resistant Gorilla Glass layer from Coring, the Nexus 7 tablet sports a front-facing 1.2 megapixel camera.

There will be two internal storage variants – an 8 and 16 GB – with 1 GB of RAM and an quad-core Tegra 3 chipset provided by Nvidia and a 12 core GPU. With such graphic processing power, it’s obvious that Google aims to the hard-core video gamer and we are definitely talking about a “serious gaming device.”

The new Android 4.1 Jelly Bean-powered tablet comes with all the connectivity features of a modern tablet: GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, and MicroUSB. As you probably guessed the slate also features a NFC chip that goes hand in hand with Google Wallet service.

Google Nexus 7 tablet gets its power from a huge 4,325 mAh battery that can get the device through nine straight ours of video playback on a single charge. Additionally the Nexus 7 features accelerometer, magnetometer and, of course, gyro.

As I mentioned above, Google Nexus 7 comes pre-loaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and measures 198.5 x 120 x 10.45mm. It weighs in only 340 grams.

As they promised, Google aims directly at Kindle Fire, a tablet that has a pice tag of $199. Therefore, Google Nexus 7 with 8 GB of storage costs $199, while the 16 GB model will be $249.

The tablet will be available in US, Canada, UK and Australia starting mid-July. After you purchase the tablet you will also receive $25 credit you can spend in Google Play and a copy of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” the eBook “Bourne Dominion,” and free subscriptions to various magazines.

With the help of ASUS and other important partners like Nvidia, the search engine giant managed to develop a cheap tablet that has high-end specifications.
