Sony Tablet P Update To Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich Now Available For Download

Sony have brought the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware update for most of their smartphones belonging of the Xperia line-up, launched between 2011 and 2012. Now it’s time for the Japan-based company’s tablet, Sony Tablet P to get the upgrade to the latest firmware version of Google’s mobile operating system.

Therefore the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Sony Tablet P, the tablet that comes with two 5.5-inch displays, is now available for download. Sony Tablet P was initially scheduled to receive the firmware update in April, then it was delayed for May 2012, bot only now the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich started to roll out globally.

Sony Tablet P was introduced in February 2012 at Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona and it was seen as one of the innovative products of the Spanish-based exhibition as it sports two 5.5-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen displays with a resolution of 1,024 x 480 pixels, 16 million colors, and a pixel density of 206 ppi.

The Japanese foldable tablet sports a dual-core Tegra 2 processor clocked at 1 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal flash storage extendable with up to 32 GB courtesy of the microSD card slot. The Tegra 2 SoC is helped by a ULP GeForce graphic processing unit.

Sony Tablet P leaves the factory gates pre-loaded with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, but starting now its users can bring the Android ICS experience to their tablets. The gadget sports WiFi b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1, microUSB, GPS and 3.5 mm audio jack.

It also comes with a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, touch focus, image stabilization, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, while the 3,080 mAh camera can get the dual-screen tablet to 17 hours of music playback. Sony Tablet P is only 28 mm thick (when closed) and it weighs in 372 grams.

The Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Sony Tablet P is set two bring new features like “Small Apps,” panoramic capture for the camera app, improved browsing, better battery life and quick-access to the camera application directly from the lockscreen.
