WWDC 2012: Apple Unveils MacBook Pro With Retina Display And New MacBook Air Line-up

Apple’s WWDC 2012 is currently undergoing at Moscone Center in San Francisco and we are here to get you the latest Apple news.

In accordance with the rumors that hit the web lately, Apple have just announced an upgrade for their current MacBook Air line-up. There’s no sign of a Retina display, but the MacBook Air machines received important hardware upgrades. Apple have implemented the Ivy Bridge chipses clocked at 2.0 GHz and turbo boost of up to 3.2 GHz, USB 3.0, a better graphic chip, and a new FaceTime camera with 720p capabilities.

The new Macs will be available with prices starting at $999, depending on storage capacity, but, unfortunately they won’t come with a Retina Display.

Even though many thought that the Retina Display for MacBook machines was a press lie, at WWDC 2012, Apple chose to prove us the contrary. Today, Apple have officially unveiled a new MacBook Pro model, as thin as a MacBook Air, but sporting a Retina Display.

The 15.4-inch display has a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels with a pixel density of 200 ppi and it’s the highest screen resolution ever implemented on a laptop.

The display of the new MacBook Pro introduced at Apple WWDC 2012 has 4 times more pixels than the display of the current model, the improvements brought by the Retina Display are at a level similar to the one of the iDevices.

But the upgrades brought to the new MacBook doesn’t stop at the Retina Display, as Apple have redesigned the product, and now it is as thin as a MacBook Air, but it comes with more processing power and a higher resolution display.

The new MacBook Pro new features quad-core Ivy Bridge processors with frequencies of up to 2.7 GHz, Nvidia 650M GT graphic cars, up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 768 GB of SSD storage. The interesting part is that Apple have revised the cooling system of their MacBook, rethinking the way the components are cooled in order to allow them to fit all the parts into a thinner case.

The new MacBook Pro has a FaceTime HD camera, two mics, illuminated keyboard, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 3.0, thus we are talking about a serious upgrade. As about the battery life, Apple claims that the new product unveiled at WWDC 2012 can stay awake for up to 7 hours and up 30 days of stand by, thanks to its new, bigger battery.

Since Apple made important improvements to their MacBook Pro, you are probably wondering how expensive is this product… well, it is available with prices starting $2199 and it can be purchased as of today.
