Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Release Date Is October, Sports 5.5-inch Display

Rumor has it that Samsung Galaxy Note 2 release date was already scheduled for October. It seems that the popularity of Samsung Galaxy Note convinced the South Korea-based company to start working on a new gadget centered on the same audience.

A couple of days ago Samsung unveiled the official figures regarding the sales of their Galaxy line-up and Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 were leading the pack with a total of 50 million units shipped so far, while Samsung Galaxy Note ended up in the hands of 7 million users.

Now it is rumored that Samsung Galaxy Note will have a successor by the end of the year. Unofficially dubbed Samsung Galaxy Note 2, it is speculated that it will be launched in October and that it will come with a bigger display and a more powerful processor.

Gsmarena writes that Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will feature a bigger display, reportedly 5.5-inch and a slightly more powerful chipset, a dual-core unit clocked at 1.5 GHz.

The first Galaxy Note features 5.3-inch display, while its successor, Galaxy Note 2 will have a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, with WSXGA+ resolution of¬†1,680×1,050 pixels and a density of 360 ppi.

Reports say that Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will sport a Exynos 5250 chipset based on a dual-core ARM-15 CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz and 1.5 GB of RAM. The Samsung phablet will have 4G LTE support and an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and support for full HD video recording.

Galaxy Note 2 will most likely come pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but since Google will reportedly unveil Android 5.0 Jelly Bean (or 4.1 Jelly Bean as latest rumors indicate) there’s a small chance for the South Korean phablet to pack the latest Android firmware out of the box.

It will probably come with a NFC chip, as well, for mobile payment and let’s hope it will integrate most of the goodies of the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S3, like S-Beam, Smart Stay, Smart Alert, Pop up Play, Best Photo, plus the S-Pen specific apps developed for the stylus that comes in the phablet’s package.
