Sony Xperia Neo L Goes Global

Sony Xperia Neo L Goes Global

Two Neo terminals have been launched under the Sony Ericsson badge. They were characterized by round short edges and the presence of the slim buttons at the bottom of the display.

Once Ericsson was ditched from the name, the series received a new member, Sony Xperia Neo L. The smartphone was initially announced only for the Chinese market, but it seems that the officials of the Japanese phone maker changed their mind and decided to sell it on other markets, too.

Sony Xperia Neo L comes with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset you will find inside another member of the Neo family, Xperia Neo V. It seems that the 5 megapixel camera was kept, too. The upgrade comes at the screen specifications. It now displays 480 x 854 pixels on 4 inches.

Therefore, Sony Xperia Neo L sports a 4-inch IPS display with a resolution of 480 x 854 and comes with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 chipset and a 1 GHz CPU, member of the single-core tribe, helped by a Adreno 205 GPU.

Xperia Neo L comes with 512 MB of RAM and 1 GB of internal storage (300 MB available to the user) which can be expanded using a microSD card of up to 32 GB. In terms of connectivity the Android smartphone packs HSPA 7.2 Mbps, WiFi: 802.11b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and EDR.

The 5 megapixel camera on the back has autofocus and LED flash and is capable of recording 720p videos, while the user facing camera can be used for video calls. Sony Xperia Neo L measures 121 x 61 x 12.2 mm, weighs in 131 grams and is kept alive by a 1,500 mAh Li-polymer battery.

Sony Xperia Neo L should be an affordable solution for the customers who want Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on a 4-inch smartphone. The first Neo model was a smartphone centered on the multimedia experience, but the Japanese phone maker limited the next two models.

For the Xperia Neo L Sony ditched the camera-dedicated button and placed a decent CPU inside it, but it’s an older generation unit. The smartphone should go on sale in the near future. The price wasn’t unveiled yet, but it should be around €250 and €300.
