Dell Latitude 10 Windows 8 Tablet PC Specs Leaked

Microsoft is getting ready to officially launch Windows 8, while the tablet makers are working on devices powered by the Redmont giant’s OS. Dell are one of the OEMs that will launch a Windows 8 tablet and the specifications leaked on the web.

10.1-inch HD display, Intel chipset based on a dual-core Atom processor and a rather dull case – this seems to be the recipe Dell chose for their first tablet running on Microsoft’s Windows 8.

The multitouch display has a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and it comes with support for stylus, but it seems that the pen won’t come in the tablet package. The 128 GB SSD is optional as well, and promises to considerably improve the speed and performance of Windows 8, running on the Intel Clover Trail platform with 2 GB of RAM DDR2.

Dell will launch the new tablet with support WiFi N and Bluetooth, but a model with 3G support for mobile internet connections will also be available. The users in the business environment can choose to equip the Dell Latitude 10 tablet with fingerprint reader, card reader, Bit Locker system to encrypt the storage memory and the Dell Data Protection Essentials Package.

When it comes to multimedia features, the things are getting a bit more interesting, as Dell’s Windows 8 slate will pack two cameras (8 megapixel on the back and 2 megapixel user-facing unit), stereo speakers, 3.5 mm jack and mic.

Dell Latitude 10 is powered by a detachable battery, available in 2-cell or 4-cell versions.

Despite the dull design and the hardware specifications that aren’t impressive at all, the Dell Latitude 10 is similar to the current Windows 7 model, Dell Latitude ST. The Windows 8 slate might become a popular product if the the retail price is competitive enough.

Even though Dell have unveiled the price for the Windows 8 slate, we are expecting it to be more expensive than the Apple’s iOS tablet. The Windows tablet PC manufacturers aren’t able to release tablets at lower prices, due to the high costs of the Microsoft licence and Intel chipsets.
