Sony ST26i Photos And Specs Leaked

With Sony Xperia U and Sony Xperia P on their ways to the store shelves, the Japaese phone maker is working hard to develop new devices that might just be what you want.

Yesterday, the Japanese announced two new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-powered LTE smartphones belonging to the Xperia line-up, dubbed Sony Xperia GS and Xperia SX, but today we are talking about the mysterious Sony ST26i which leaked with some new fresh photos and specifications.

A source who claims to know one or two things about the Sony ST26i terminal, claims that the device will come with a 4.0-inch qHD display, 1 GHz ST-Ericsson U8500 chispet and 512 MB of RAM, plus 8 GB of internal storage. The smartphone in the picture above is reportedly sporting a camera capable of recording HD videos, and Sony ST26i comes with capacitive buttons on the front. The green globe logo (common for the Sony Ericsson smartphones) is missing, thus the terminal is 100% a Sony. All these technical specifications place the smartphone into the low-end segment and probably the price will be one to match. Some previous rumors said that not less than 10 phones are on Sony’s work tablet for 2012.

Sony ST26i doesn’t seem to be just a prototype device, and since it’s ready for launch we might see it hitting the market sometime this summer. So far, most of the Sony terminals that leaked on the web were mid-range terminals and except for the Hayabusa none of them would convince me to purchase a Sony phone.

All Sony needs to really count on the smartphone market is a HD display, an interesting design, and an efficient camera.
