Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OTA Update For Samsung Galaxy Note Now Available For Download

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware update for Samsung Galaxy Note is out there, and now the owners of the South Korean company’s phablet have a new reason to cheer. Yesterday it was reported that a Galaxy Note running on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich was spotted at CTIA, and we expected the update to drop on other devices, too.

Our hunch was confirmed today as Devin Balentina, a Galaxy Note owner, tweeted a screenshot of his device notifying that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OTA update is now available and ready to install. The Android 4.0 ICS OTA update for Samsung Galaxy Note has a size of 320 MB, and it brings the highly anticipated Premium Suite pack.

The Premium Suite comes with an upgraded S Note, and a new S Memo Widget. But what made our day brighter is obviously the availability of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Samsung Galaxy Note, which, as you’ve probably guessed, comes pre-loaded with Samsung’s in-house user interface, TouchWiz, upgraded to v4.0.

It was reported that the reason behind Android 4.0 ICS update for Samsung Galaxy Note delay was the Premium Suite package which comes with exclusive S Pen optimized applications and enhanced multimedia features.

Samsung Galaxy Note was announced at IFA Berlin event in September 2011 and made the market debut one month later. The South Korea-based company officially announced they sold over 5 million Galaxy Note units since the 5.3-inch terminal officially hit the market.

The Samsung phablet packs a huge 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 800 x 1280 protected against scratches by Gorilla Glass, 1 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB of internal flash memory expandable with up to 32 GB via microSD.

Galaxy Note is underpinned by a dual-core 1.4 GHz Exynos ARM Cortex A9 chipset, helped by Mali-400MP GPU. The phablet sports a front-facing 2 megapixel camera for video calls, while the primary 8 megapixel camera mounted on the back of the polymer case comes with autofocus, LED flash and supports full HD 1080p video recording. The handheld comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, microUSB and 3.5 mm audio jack, all these powered by a 2,500 mAh Li-Ion battery.

You can take a look at the Premium Suite with Android Ice Cream Sandwich features as demoed by Samsung in the video below.
