FCC Gives Nokia 808 Pureview The Tear Apart Treatment

As you probably know, Nokia 808 Pureview will be launched this month on the European market, but until it officially hits the sores’ shelves, the 41 megapixel smartphone arrived at FCC, where, of course, it received the tear-apart treatment. Let’s see how Nokia’s brand new cameraphone looks form the inside out.

A couple of days ago Nokia officially announced they will make 808 Pureview available for purchase this month, coming with a price tag of around €400 – €500. I remind you that Nokia 808 Pureview is capable of taking 38 or 34 megapixel pictures depending on the aspect ratio – 4:3 and 16:9, respectively – and snap high-resolution pictures using the pixel oversampling technology (interpolation and compression of 4 – 7 megapixels in one).

Nokia 808 Pureview was officially presented at Mobile World Congress 2012 event in Barcelona, where it was named “the most interesting device of MWC.” You can take a look at the naked 808 Pureview here, and then all you have to do is wait until it officially hits your local retailer. I should remind you that Nokia 808 Pureview features a 41 megapixel camera with F2.4 diaphragm, 15.5 cm macro focus and focal length of 8.02 mm. As you can see in the pictures of the Nokia 808 Pureview dissection the camera unit isn’t huge, thus the 41 megapixel sensor is even more fascinating…

The Finnish cameraphone features a 4.0-inch AMOLED display with Nokia Clear Black technology and protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass coating, a single-core 1.3 GHz ARM 11 processor, 512 MB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage expandable with up to 32 MB via microSD card. It has all the connectivity features worthy of a modern smartphone: HSDPA (up to 14.4 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB. Anyway the crown jewel of 808 Pureview is the 41 megapixel camera with autofocus, Carl Zeiss lens and Xenon flash, capable of snapping 7152 x 5368 pixels pictures and recording full HD 1080p videos at 30 fps.

Nokia 808 Pureview comes pre-loaded with Nokia Belle OS, but the Finland-based company said they are planning to bring the Pureview technology on future Windows Phone smartphones.
