Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Firmware Update Rolled Out For Sony Tablet S

Good news for the owners of Sony Tablet S, as the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware update is now available for download.

As you probably know the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Sony Tablet S will not hit all the devices at once, as it is rolled out globally and certain markets will receive it later than others. Thus, if you own a Sony Tablet S and haven’t received the update notification yet, all you have to do is wait a little bit more.

The Android 4.0 ICS update for Sony Tablet S brings a whole new lock screen which now allows you to access the camera or see the notifications. It also brings a panoramic mode for the camera application and now you will be able to see the pics stored on the SD card and edit photos directly from the gallery.

The firmware update also brings new apps like Calculator or Remote Control and the Home screen is now more customizable: you can organize the app shortcuts in folders which you can name for a better experience.

The web browser now includes a series of new options and you can now easily switch between mobile and desktop mode within a page and bookmark web pages to view them later, even in offline mode.

The Android 4.0 update brings a feature that allows you to access the files on the SD card directly and the possibility to take screenshots without installing third party applications.

Sony Tablet S is the first tablet released by the Japan-based company and it was introduced in January 2012 at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It sports a 9.4-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen, 1 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB of internal flash storage which can be expanded via a SD card of up to 32 GB. Tablet S is powered by a dual-core 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 Cortex-A9 CPU and it leaves the factory gates with Google’s tablet-exclusive operating system, Android 3.1 Honeycomb.

Hopefully all the owners will be able to upgrade their tablets soon, and if you are among the lucky users of a Tablet S running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, don’t forget to let us know about the
