Nokia Lumia 900 UK Launch Delayed

The Finnish company Nokia have announced that the launch of their highly-anticipated Windows Phone flagship, Lumia 900, on the UK market will be delayed due to “overwhelming demand” on the North American market. The terminal dedicated to the European market was supposed to make its but in the United Kingdom on April 27th.

The British customers who want to purchase Nokia’s Windows Phone 7.5 Mango flagship will have to wait. Although the release date of Nokia Lumia 900 was set for April 27th, it seems that the smartphone’s success on the American market made Nokia postpone the UK launch. Lumia 900 is currently available exclusively at AT&T at a price of $99.99 on a two year contract.

The first Windows Phone smartphones resulted from the Nokia – Microsoft partnership deal were introduced in October 2011 at Nokia World event, Lumia 800 and Lumia 710. Back then we all wondered where is the flagship of Nokia’s WP line-up, but a couple of months later the Finns presented the LTE version of Nokia Lumia 900 at Consumer Electronics show event in February 2012. But the Europeans will not get the same device, as the 4G support would be useless on the Old Continent.

The European version of Lumia 900 was introduced one month later at Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona and it was rumored that it will feature a 12 megapixel camera instead of the 8 megapixel unit packed by the US model.

Nokia Lumia 900 LTE features a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, an 8 megapxiel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, dual-LED flash and 720p HD video recording support, a single core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm chipset, 512 MB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.

Nokia have officially confirmed that the Windows Phone terminal will become available on the UK market in the second quarter of the year.
