ZTE Plans To Sell 100 Million Smartphones Per Year By 2015

We’ve previously told you about ZTE’s and Huawei’s plans for the global smartphone market. Both companies come from China and they have big hopes for both smartphone and tablet markets. Today, we will talk about ZTE, a company that, in 2011, sold more than 15 million smartphones world wide, enough to make it world’s fourth smartphone vendor.

The analysts estimate that the China-based company will sell 50 million smartphones in 2012. This means a growth of over 300%, and I guess that ZTE plans to achieve this impressive figure with the help of low-budget models, a segment that will acknowledge an accelerated grow next year.

Their goal is to sell 100 million smartphone units a year by 2012. The analysts say that more than 1 billion devices will be sold in 2014 on the smartphone market. If so, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see ZTE reaching one hundred million units a year by 2015. Currently, ZTE’s most powerful smartphone is ZTE Era, and I guess that the China-based company will start selling it outside Asia, soon.

ZTE Era was introduced in February 2012 at Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, and, to be honest, I was impressed by the Chinese smartphone. ZTE Era sports a 4.3-inch TFT display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, a quad-core 1.3 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal flash storage and microSD card slot with support for up to 32 GB.

The ZTE flagship packs a ULP GeForce GPU and comes pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The device also comes with 3G Internet speeds of up to 21 Mbps, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, microUSB and 3.5 mm audio jack. Era features a primary 8 megapixel camera with support for full HD 1080p video recording and a front-facing 0.3 megapixel camera for video calls.

With such features and a low price ZTE Era might become a real sales hit, as the price is starting to become an important aspect when buying a new device.
