Huawei Ascend With 4.3-inch HD Display And Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Coming In Europe This Summer

The Chinese phone maker, Huawei, officially announced they will start selling the Ascend P1 terminal in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia in May, then the Europeans will be able to purchase it sometime this summer.

Introduced this year at Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Huawei Ascend P1 is a good looking smartphone, with favorable odds in the race for the most interesting smartphone of 2012.

At CES 2012 press conference Huawei officials said that the Asian company will no longer be associated with low end terminals or telecom equipment,  as they will start working hard to compete on the high-end smartphone market. The China-based company is working on several quad-core models, but they also have the Ascend P1 and its ultra-thin relative, Ascend P1 S. Well, you should know that P1 will arrive in Europe this summer.

Yesterday, Huawei announced the release dates for Ascend P1, an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone with interesting technical specifications. Huawei Ascend P1 is already available for purchase in China since yesterday, and, in May, it will debut in Australia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, then, in June, it will hit Latin America.

The Europeans will receive it this summer and you should know that we are dealing with a 7.7 mm thick smartphone, running on the latest version of Google’s Android. Ascend P1 sports a 4.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display, has 1 GB of RAM, a dual-core 1.5 GHz TI OMAP 4460 CPU, 8 megapixel camera on the back with full HD video recording capabilities and 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

Huawei Ascend P1 also supports Dolby Mobile, for a “surrounding” audio experience, by using your headphones or by connecting the home theater system to the Chinese terminal via the HDMI port.

The Ascend P1 is already out-of-stock in China after it was massively pre-ordered, said Yu Chengdong, Huawei official. Now we are waiting for the anorexic Ascend P1 S to receive an official release date and I am pretty sure that many will be interested in buying “world’s thinnest smartphone,” with a waist of only 6.7 mm.

Anyway, the price for Huawei Ascend P1 wasn’t unveiled yet. You can watch the Huawei Ascend P1 and Ascend P1 S promo video below and see what’s all about.
