HTC Acknowledges One S Chipping Problems, Replaces Faulty Terminals

After HTC One S was made available for sale and the customers got their hands on the mid-end device, some of them reported that the ceramic metal coating is extremely easy to damage. The officials of the Taiwan-based company acknowledged the chipping issue and committed to fix all the faulty One S terminals.

Yesterday we’ve told you that Nokia acknowledged Lumia 900 data connection bugs, saying they will release a firmware update to fix the issue and replace any Lumia 900 with an updated one. Moreover, Nokia will give each Lumia 900 customer who purchased or will purchase the terminal until April 21st $100 to pay their AT&T bill.

Today HTC admits that the ceramic metal coating of their One S terminal has chipping issues and committed to fix all the terminals that have this fault. HTC One S features a ceramic case manufactured using the Micro Arc Oxidation process, which transforms an aluminium layer into ceramic using electricity. Although the result should be a very solid material, it seems that some One S owners have noticed small cracks and bruises at the upper end of the case.

Apparently the cracks appeared because the sharp edge of HTC One S makes it prone to chipping. Still the Micro Arc Oxidation method should make the frame stronger than stainless steel. So if you had the same problem with your HTC One S you should return it to the retailer in a maximum of 30 days and it will be fix under standard warranty terms.

HTC One S features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal flash storage and 25 GB of free Drobox storage, 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and support for full HD video recording. One S is running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8260A Snapdragon Krait processor.
