Samsung Galaxy Note Variant Heading To Sprint?

Samsung Galaxy Note Variant Heading To Sprint?

It seems like Samsung’s 5.3-inch smartphone, Galaxy Note, is heading to Sprint. Even though neither Sprint nor the Korean company have confirmed that Samsung Galaxy Note will hit the US carrier, Sprint’s web site hosts a picture that looks a lot like Samsung phablet.

We can’t be sure whether this is the Samsung Galaxy Note Variant or not, as the device that appeared on Sprint’s web site is not branded. Anyway if the 5.3-inch smartphone hits the US carrier, it would be probably called Galaxy Note Variant and would probably feature 4G LTE connectivity, becoming the fourth LTE smartphone in Sprint’s line-up.

The North American variant of Samsung Galaxy Note was showcased in January at CES 2012 event in Las Vegas and the huge smartphone is already available at AT&T since February. Maybe Sprint thought it would be a good move to have the smartphone – tablet hybrid in their line up.

Samsung Galaxy Note was introduced at IFA 2011 in Berlin and was released on the German market in October 2011.

Samsung Galaxy Note features a 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 800 x 1,280 pixels, protected by Gorilla Glass coating, 1 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB of internal flash storage that can be extended with up to 32 GB via the microUSB card slot.

The smartphone comes with a 1.4 GHz Exynos Cortex A9 CPU helped by a Mali-400MP GPU and is running on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread with TouchWiz 4.0 out of the box. Samsung announced the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for Galaxy Note will soon be rolled out.

In terms of connectivity, Galaxy Note comes with WiFi a/b/g/n, WiFi Direct and WiFi Hotspot, Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB 2.0. The NFC chipset is optional.

Rumor has it that the Sprint version of Samsung Galaxy Note, unofficially dubbed Variant, will feature LTE support to offer higher Internet speeds. Now just imagine a LTE web browsing experience on a 5.3-inch display. It’s almost as good as on a small tablet.
