Google Nexus Tablet Release Date Delayed Until July 2012

The adventure in the tablet world planned by Google will be delayed until July, as their plans were affected by their efforts to lower the price to a level which will make the Nexus tablet a rival for Amazon’s Kindle Fire, the most successful Android tablet currently on the market.

Google initially planned to launch the first Nexus tablet at a price of $249, but the tablet market needs something else: its main competitor, Amazon Kindle Fire, is already available for only $199.

Therefore, the 7-inch tablet with a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset was put on a diet, and the result everyone expects is a tablet with a price around $149. The Nexus Tablet will use the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but except for the WiFi support and the 7-inch display, the rest of details are still a mystery. Anyway, the specifications list will depend on the price Google manages negotiate with Nvidia for the quad-core Tegra 3 chispet. If the price doesn’t meet Google’s demands, maybe the company would go for a cheaper chipset, with lower specifications.

Until then, the Google tablet, developed in a partnership with Asus, might have some to face the heavy competition coming from Apple. Rumor has it that the Cupertino-based company is working on a smaller iPad 2, equipped with a 7.85-inch display and called iPad Mini.

Another plausible explanation for the delay of the debut of the Google tablet is their wish to launch it with Android 5.0 Jelly Bean (the Android version which will replace the current Ice Cream Sandwich) out of the box. So, there’s a chance that the Google Nexus Tablet to become world’s first device running on Android 5.0, having an ace up the sleeve in the marketing campaigns. If Google wants to launch the new tablet with Jelly Beam on board then the release date would be delayed further more, due to the optimization required by this process.

Anyway we’ll stick to the price-cut theory as the main reason for the delay of the Nexus Tablet.
