Google Nexus Tablet Leaked Photo Hits The Web

The first leaked pictures of Google’s Nexus Tablet have just hit the web. The search engine giant hopes that the low-end tablet will help them bit a big chunk of the tablet market share, just like Amazon did with their Kindle Fire. Nexus Tablet might cost a mere $149, becoming one of the cheapest tablets on the market.

The leaked pictures published by Pocketnow reveal a tablet with a neat construction, featuring an SD slot, microUSB and HDMI out. Anyway, the icons on the tablet’s homescreen show that the picture was taken before Google renamed Android Market as Google Play.

Announced last year by Google Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt, the Google Nexus Tablet launch was delayed because the search engine giant wants to make sure it will incorporate all the features that will help the device become a sales star, said DisplaySearch analyst, Richard Shim.

Eric Shmidt promised a “high-quality” tablet, and as sources are indicating Google’s plan was a success.

Developed in partnership with Asus and based on Eee Pad MeMo model, Google Nexus Tablet will have a 7-inch Full HD display, protected by Gorilla Glass coating and Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3 chipset.

Google’s cheap tablet will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and storage in the cloud capabilities. Moreover it is rumored that Nexus tablet will have a docking station with 3D video support.

Initially announced at a price between $199 and $249, the price of the tablet was cut off, thus the entry-level mode, with 16 GB of internal storage will cost $149, while the 64GB model will have a price tag of $199.

On the other hand Android Community reports that the tablet we are looking at is just the Toshiba 7.7-inch tablet, showcased in January at CES 2012.

Rumor has it that Google Nexus Tablet will be launched at CTIA Wireless Trade Show in New Orleans (May 8 – May 10).

The Menolo Park-based company hopes that their tablet will be able to fight against Amazon’s Kindle Fire, priced $199, and against the rumored iPad Mini, which might hit the market in Q3 2012. Sources indicated that Google will open an online store where they will sell their new tablet, just like they did with Nexus One.
