iPhone 5 Release Date Is June, Says Foxconn Employee

We’ve already heard about the Foxconn job listings over the past couple of weeks. Rumor has it that the Chinese company is looking for about 18,000 employees who will work on the fifth generation Apple smartphone, unofficially dubbed iPhone 5. A Foxconn employee said that iPhone 5 will be launched in June current year. Of course, it’s pretty unlikely for Apple to launch the next-gen iOS smartphone in June, as the statement could have been misunderstood and Foxconn may start the iPhone 5 production in June in order to stock enough units for the October launch.

So, will the Apple enthusiasts iPhone 5 get their hands on the new iPhone 5 three months from now? An employee of Foxconn, the China-based company that manufactures Apple’s iDevices, claims that iPhone 5 release date was scheduled for June.

In an interview for TV Tokyo, one of Foxconn employees that handles employee recruitment for the new production line where 18,000 workers will be hired, said that iPhone 5 will be launched in June, according to Apple Insider.

A member of the recruitment team of the Foxconn plant in Taiyuan, China said in an interview that 18,000 new persons will be hired for the production of the fifth generation iPhone. The Foxconn recruiter added that the smartphone is expected to debut in June.

Since he is just a member of the human resources team, the Foxconn employee might have provided wrong information. As I mentioned above, it’s more likely for the production to begin in June and the launch will take place months later in the fall.

The interview could also point that Apple won’t expect until fall to unveil their new iPhone 5 and that the launch of iPhone 4S was just an exception.

Anyway, it’s hard to believe that Apple will launch a new iPhone model less than one year away since the launch of the iPhone 4S, but anything is possible with Apple, so the Cupertino-based company might break the tradition again this year. If iPhone 5 is launched in June, then iOS 6 debut would be synchronized with the smartphone’s launch. Anyway, I’ll stick to my opinion and say that iOS 6 will be introduced at WWDC 2012 and iPhone 5 will debut in the fall.

Some say that the new iPhone will use LTE technology and the A6 chipset which was not ready in time for the new iPad. Other rumors said that iPhone 5 will come with a 4.6-inch display. What do you expect from the next-gen iPhone?
