Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update For Sony Tablet S and Sony Tablet P Arriving In April

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update For Sony Tablet S and Sony Tablet P Arriving In April

The first official information about the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Sony Tablet S and Sony Tablet P surfaced in January, saying that the firmware update will become available in April.

Sony Japan’s official website announces that Android 4.0 ICS firmware update will hit bot their tablets, Sony S and Sony P in late April, bringing lots of new features for their Android-powered slates.

As for the software improvements Sony announced three months ago they include a new interface that will blend the tablet experience with the one of the Sony smartphones, a natural move I would say, face unlock and panoramic photo capture.

Another improvement of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for Sony Tablet S and Sony Tablet P is that the overlay applications will always start in full mode, and can be accessed from a corner of the screen while another app is running. This work mode won’t be compatible with all software products, thus we are eager to see how useful they are.

Least but not last, the two Sony tablets will come with integration for the company’s blue ray recorders and the users will be able to play the content from their tablet with no extra head aches.

Sony Tablet S comes packed with 9.4-inch TFT display dual-core Tegra 2 Cortex A9 CPU clocked at 1 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB of internal flash storage, 5 megapixel camera with HD video capabilities and it comes pre-loaded Android 3.2 Honeycomb. In terms of connectivity, Sony Tablet S comes with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, microUSB 2.0 and HSPA.

The Sony Tablet P is a foldable tablet which measures 180 x 79 x 28 mm after closing. It comes with the same dual-core 1 GHz Tegra 2 Cortex A9 CPU, 1 GB of RAM and the same connectivity options. It also features dual TFT display with a resolution of 1024 x 480 pixels, measuring 5.5-inches and 5 megapixel camera.
