Nokia Lumia 800 Battery Life Tripled After 12070 Firmware Update

Nokia Lumia 800 Battery Life Tripled After 12070 Firmware Update

Nokia has recently released another update for the Lumia 800 in order to fix the battery life problems that affected the smartphone’s users. The firmware update is listed as 1600.2487.8107.12070 so if you have a Nokia Lumia 800, connect it to a PC, open Zune, and start downloading. Please note that it’s a global, but gradual rollout so it might take a few days for the notification to pop-up on your unit.

Although there shouldn’t be a reason why you shouldn’t install the new Lumia firmware, the good news in this case is that your smartphone will have a significantly improved battery life. According to several users, the battery life has tripled ever since they installed the 12070 build.

This means that the battery life problems were as big as the users complained. Nokia determined that more than 150mA were discharged when the Lumia 800 was idle, while the guys over XDA Developers noted that the battery is now discharging between 80mA to 90mA in standby mode.

Considering the fact that your device spends most of its time in idle, then the battery life may have tripled. The Nokia Lumia 800 has quickly become one of the best (if not the best) selling Windows Phone 7 devices ever, while the whole world is preparing for the arrival of its bigger brother, the Lumia 900.

The main culprit behind the poor Nokia Lumia 800 battery life was the display’s brightness which didn’t adjust itself properly. The Finland-based company has worked on the brightness management, and everything seems to be just fine now therefore we strongly recommend that you install the update right now.

The Nokia Lumia 800 features a single-core 1.4GHz processor, 16GB internal memory, 512MB RAM / ROM, 3.7-inch 800 x 480 ClearBlack AMOLED touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera on the back with 720p HD video capture, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, and a 1,450mAh battery among others.
