iPhone Runs HTML5 Games Three Times Faster Than Android Smartphones

HTML5 is the next big thing and it seems that Adobe themselves admitted it when they announced that the mobile version of the famous Flash plug-in will be interrupted. It seems that now the Apple’s devices have the best implementation of the HTML5 standard and a recent set of benchmarking tests have proved that the iOS runs the HTML5-based games three times faster than Google’s Android OS. The aforementioned tests were made on games as any smartphone that can run HTML5 games fluently can run almost any kind of HTLM 5 content.

Apple were judged by many for not providing Flash support for their iDevice line-up, but now after Adobe interrupted the development of the mobile Flash plug-in many have reviewed their opinion. Recent tests showed that Apple is better than its rival, Android OS, when it comes to running HTLM5 software, a result of the Cupertino-based company’s decision to focus their efforts on the other world wide web standard.

The guys at Spaceport.io have created an interesting infographic that compares the scores of several devices running iOS and Android regarding the speed of the HTML5 games on both platforms.

It seems that the iOS devices are running HTML5 games three time faster than their main rivals, Android, and Apple are focusing all their efforts on optimizing their software platform based on the new standard, which, sooner or later, will be adopted by most of the mobile operating system developers to the detriment of flash platform.

The tests have measured the number of frames each device can display in a second and the results are in the infographic below. The iPad 2 tablet has by far the best performance in the tablet segment, while the iPhone 4S is the best smartphone when it comes to running HTML5 games, but things may change in the near future. Although the Android OS seems “unprepared” now, Google will soon update their mobile operating system and it will significantly improve it to be able to handle the iOS menace.

You can have a look at the infographic below, where the HTML5 gaming results of iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPhone 4, iPad 2 and iPhone 4S running on iOS 4.3.3 and 5.0.1 are compared to Motorola Droid 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Kindle Fire and Galaxy Nexus.
