Asus To Be The First To Offer Android 5.0 Jelly Bean Devices

Asus To Be The First To Offer Android 5.0 Jelly Bean Devices

There’s not point in hiding behind our finger and admit that Jelly Bean is the most likely code name for Google’s next mobile platform, Android 5.0. I believe that Google itself gave use the biggest hint, when, at Mobile World Congress 2012 event in Barcelona, they greeted their guests with a bog bowl of jelly beams.

Now another confirmation of the Jelly Beam code name comes from Asus. One of the Taiwan-based company’s officials recently talked to the guys at Tech Radar. In an interview, the Asus official mentioned that the company he works for is very close to Google and that Asus will be in “the first wave to offer the Jelly Bean update.” It can’t get clearer than this.

The partnership deal between Asus and Google could be an advantage for the Taiwan-based company, but LG also talked about their desire to offer the Android 5.0 update for all their devices launched in 2012.

Asus confirmed the code name of the new Google mobile operating system, Android 5.0. An official of the Taiwan-based company said that they hope to be among the first to roll out the Android Jelly Beam update for their smartphones and tablets.

For the time being, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich doesn’t have a big market share, but the smartphone and tablet manufacturers are already speaking about the new version of the Google’s mobile OS.

Rumors about Android Jelly Bean being the code name of the next Google operating system are not new, but the same source that ignited the gossip spark returned with a nickname for the future Google mobile platform. It seems that Android 6.0 could be called Android Key Lime Pie and might hit the market in early 2013.

Anyway, returning to the Asus official that talked about Android Jelly Bean, he might have been very familiar with the unofficially Jelly Bean name, the tech journalists gave to Android 5.0 and therefore use it in an official interview. As far as we know, the new Android software update might arrive in the fall, after the official presentation in June at Google I/O 2012 event. Rumor has it that a Nexus tablet upradable to  Android 5.0 Jelly Bean will also be introduced at the Google event, but it’s wiser to wait until then and see what happens.
