Samsung Galaxy S III April Launch Rumor Officially Dismissed

Samsung Galaxy S III April Launch Rumor Officially Dismissed

The Mobile World Congress 2012 event is over and as Samsung promised, we haven’t seen the new Galaxy S III in flash. Anyway, the rumors about the new Samsung flagship continue to hit the web, and most of them give April as a “certain” release date.

A few days ago we informed you that Samsung Galaxy S III will be introduced sometime in April, in London. The rumors were coming from a South Korean source and at that time Samsung haven’t commented on the subject.

A couple of days ago the South Korea-based company officially dismissed the April launch for Samsung Galaxy S III. Samsung used Twitter to inform us that their new flagship smartphone will not be presented in April, adding that they will use the microblogging service to inform us about the release date of the SGS3.

This makes us think that the previous rumors reporting June or July 2012 as possible release dates for Samsung Galaxy S III are more accurate. Maybe Samsung would want to push the launch event closer to the commercial debut of their new device.

As about the technical specifications of the new Samsung Galaxy S III device, early rumors indicated that the new device will come with a full HD edge-to-edge 4.8-inch display with 16:9 ratio. It was also speculated that the new Samsung flagship will feature 2GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage.

Other speculations about Samsung Galaxy S III talk about a proprietary quad-core Exynos 1.5GHz CPU, a rumor which I personally find very likely. Of course, Galaxy S III will come pre-loaded with Google’s latest mobile platform, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Anyway, even though the full HD display and the 2GB of RAM seem quite sci-fi specs for the next Samsung smartphone, I find the inclusion of the proprietary quad-core Exynos chipset quite plausible. I also believe that Samsung Galaxy S III will feature NFC chip and 4G LTE support (where available).

Apparently, Samsung chose not to unveil the new Galaxy S III at Mobile World Congress 2012 event in Barcelona because they don’t want the rival companies to copy the design of their new product, ahead of the commercial launch. An April launch would have gave the South Korea-based company an advantage over Apple, as they would have been able to launch the new Samsung Galaxy S III on the market before the public’s attention is high jacked by the launch of a new product of the iPhone range.
