How To Access Windows Task Manager Via Remote Control

I am sure that all of you who are using Windows, regardless of the version love and hate at the same time the Microsoft OS. This is a software that offers at the same time pleasure and headache. For example I bet many of you have pressed the Ctrl+Alt+Delete combination numerous times when things were not working ok or when you wanted to see some information.

By making this keys combination you made the Task Manager appear. For those of you who don’t know this is an application that will allow the user to monitor running different aspects of the OS like: programs, performances, processes and even the network activity within a system. Also you must know this application can be activated from the Windows Taskbar.

But what about those cases when you are working on a remote computer and as you can imagine the key combination will not work. Well you can make the process happen with the usage of the command prompt. It is pretty simple and I will explain step by step what you need to do in order to have a nice, issue free activity.

  1. 1st you will need to log in the local machine with the usual process.

  2. Now you will need to connect to the remote PC. This can be made by using a remote connection program. I have noticed that although there are many on the market the one provided by Microsoft, Windows Remote Desktop is by far one of the best. I will recommend you to use it.

  3. Assuming you are using this one launch it and enter the computer’s IP address you wish to control. Notice there is a field where you will have to enter the name and password. Enter them and afterwards click on the “Connect” button.

  4. Allow some time for the connection to happen in order for things to go smooth.

  5. Now simply right-click on the remote PC Windows Taskbar. Several options will appear. From those chose “Task Manager”.

  6. Click on the remote PC’s “Start” button and from there chose the “Run” option. This is the point where a “Run” dialog box should appear. If you are a Windows XP user you will need to type “taskmgr.exe” in the provided text field and afterwards click on the “OK” option.

As you noticed things are very easy to be done even when using remote control. All you need is a little knowledge and your work on other computers will be the same as the one on your own machine.
