How To Download And Install Official Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread Build P1000XXJQ1 On Samsung Galaxy Tab

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is the first slate developed by Samsung which is probably the third best selling tablet ever after the original iPad and the iPad 2. The tablet comes pre-loaded with Android 2.2 Froyo which is a major downside and it has prevented some consumers buying the tablet. Well, their fears should go away now as Samsung has begun rolling out Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread for the original Galaxy Tab.

Please note that this is a step-by-step rollout which means that it might take a few days until it reaches your Samsung Galaxy Tab or you couldn’t go through the entire process using ODIN, which is a very risky procedure.

You can download Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread free with firmware version P1000XXJQ1 and baseband version P1000XXJPZ by going to System Updates in your Settings or using the download link here. Please note that you will need to download Android 2.3.3 using the link only if you will install it using ODIN so follow the procedure below with caution.

  14. As the ODIN app is STILL open, put the .TAR file into the PDA area – very important: do NOT choose “repartition” like at the 9th step.

  15. I repeat: do NOT choose “repartition”.

  16. Now click on “Star” and the .TAR file will be installed on your Galaxy Tab.

  17. After the process is done, turn OFF your Samsung Galaxy Tab.
