If you use Internet Explorer 9 and if you want to improve your speed to navigate on the web pages, you may know that are lots of shortcut keys that could help you. The shortcut keys could contain a single key or a combination of keys. If you want to know how to increase your speed on Web by using Internet Explorer 9, read the following article.

Depending on what you want to do, there are nine big categories of shortcut keys.

The first category is based on the shortcut keys, used for viewing and exploring internet pages:

  • F1 – Show the help window;

  • F7 – Begin browsing in caret mode;

  • F11 – Switch the full-screen and normal screen of the browser;

  • Tab – To move on a page forward;

  • Shift+Tab – To move back the items from a webpage;

  • Alt+Home – To navigate directly to your Home page;

  • Alt+Right Arrow – Switch to the next page;

  • Alt+Left Arrow / Backspace – Switch to previous page;

  • Shift+F10 – To show a shortcut menu for a link

  • Ctrl+Tab / F6 – If the tabbed browsing is off, between frames move forward;

  • Ctrl+Shift+Tab – If the tabbed browsing is off, between frames move backward;

  • “Up” Key – Go to the beginning of a document;

  • “Down” key – Go to the end of a document;

  • Page Up – Go up with a page;

  • Page Down – Go down with a page;

  • Home – Go to the beginning of a document;

  • End – Go to the end of a document;

  • Ctrl+F – To search something in a page;

  • F5 – To reload the current web page;

  • Ctrl+F5 – Reload the current web page, even the stored version and the time stamp are the same;

  • Esc – To stop loading a page;

  • Ctrl+O – To open a new page or a new web site;

  • Ctrl+N – To open only a new window;

  • Ctrl+Shift+P – To open a new InPrivate window;

  • Ctrl+Shift+Delete – To erase the browsing history;

  • Ctrl+K – To identical copy a tab;

  • Ctrl+Shift+T – To restart the last closed tab;

  • Ctrl+W – If you have only one tab open. will close the window;

  • Ctrl+S – To save the last page;

  • Ctrl+P – To print the last page;

  • Enter – To launch a selected link;

  • Ctrl+I – To launch favorites;

  • Ctrl+H – To launch History;

  • Ctrl+J – To launch the download manager;

  • Alt+P – To launch the menu of the Page section, when the command bar is active;

  • Alt+T – To launch the menu of the Tools section, when the command bar is active;

  • Alt+H – To launch the menu of the Help section, when the command bar is active.

The second category is based on the shortcut keys, used for working with the tabs:

  • Ctrl+Click – To launch links in a new tab on background;

  • Ctrl+Shift+Click – To launch links in a new tab, but not in background;

  • Ctrl+T – To start a new tab on foreground;

  • Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+Tab – Goes to next opened tab;

  • Ctrl+W – To end the current tab;

  • Ctrl+n – Goes to a specific tab(n- the tab number);

  • Ctrl+9 – Goes to the last tab;

  • Ctrl+Alt+F4 – End all tabs.

The third category is based on the shortcut keys, used for zooming in or zooming out:

  • Ctrl+Scroll Up – To zoom in with 10%;

  • Ctrl+Scroll Down – To zoom out with 10%;

  • Ctrl+0 – To zoom to 100%.

The fourth category is based on the shortcut keys, used for searching in the address bar:

  • Ctrl+E – The start a search in the address bar;

  • Alt+Enter – To launch your search query in a new tab;

  • Ctrl+”Down” Key – To launch the Address bar menu(for view history, favorites etc.);

  • Ctrl+Shift+L – To find the using copied text.

The fifth category is based on the shortcut keys, used for previewing and printing webpages:

  • Alt+P – To change the printing options of the page;

  • Alt+U – To set the paper, the headers and the footers of the web page;

  • Alt+Home – To show the first page that will be printed;

  • Alt+”Left” Key – To show the previous page that will be printed;

  • Alt+A – To set a number of displayed page;

  • Alt+”Right” Key – To show the next page that will be printed;

  • Alt+End – To show the last page that will be printed;

  • Alt+F – To set how you want frames to be printing(if you use a web page that have frames);

  • Alt+C – To end the print preview.

The sixth category is based on the shortcut keys, used for the Address bar:

  • Alt+D – To choose the Address bar text;

  • F4 – To show a list of the typed addresses;

  • Ctrl+”Left” Key – In the Address bar, change the cursor to the left;

  • Ctrl+”Right” Key – In the Address bar, change the cursor to the right;

  • Ctrl+Enter – To the typed text in Address bar enter www. to the beginning and .com to the end;

  • Alt+M – To launch the Home menu;

  • Alt+R – To launch the Print menu;

  • Alt+J – To launch the RSS menu;

  • Alt+O – To launch the Tools menu;

  • Alt+S – To launch the Safety menu;

  • Alt+L – To launch the Help menu.

The seventh category is based on the shortcut keys, used for working with favorites and history:

  • Ctrl+D – To insert the current page to favorites;

  • Ctrl+Shift+Del – To erase the browsing history;

  • Ctrl+Shift+P – To launch a InPrivate window;

  • Ctrl+B – To launch the Organize Favorites box;

  • Alt+”Up” Key – To change the selected item up in the Favorites list;

  • Alt+”Down” Key – To change the selected item down in the Favorites list;

  • Alt+C – To launch Favorites Center(show display your favorites);

  • Ctrl+H – To launch Favorites Center(show display your history);

  • Ctrl+Shift+H – To place Favorites Center and to show your history;

  • Ctrl+Shift+J – To launch Favorites Center and to show your feeds;

  • Alt+Z – To launch the Add to Favorites menu;

  • Alt+A – To launch the Favorites menu.

The eighth category is based on the shortcut keys, used for editing the webpages:

  • Ctrl+X – To take a selected items and to copy in the Clipboard;

  • Ctrl+C – To take a selected text without disappear;

  • Ctrl+V – To put the Clipboard contents at the selected location;

  • Ctrl+A – To choose all items from a webpage;

  • F12 – To launch Internet Explorer Developer Tools.

The last category, the ninth one, is based on the shortcut keys, used for working with the Notification bar:

  • Alt+N – To change the focus to the Notification bar;

  • Spacebar – Press the Notification bar.
