How To Update AT&T’s HTC Aria OS To Android 2.2 Froyo

The good days for people with the device from HTC named Aria have come. Cheer with us because from now on, you dear reader will have a brand new OS on your smartphone. Not so long ago, the developers finally made available for you the Android 2.2 version, Froyo. This has also come with a small FOTA (Firmware Update over the air). With many users still waiting for the upgrade to arrive, we will now show you how to make this firmware update on your HTC Aria.

A side note that you have to take in consideration is the fact once the update begins, the data stored on your smartphone will be deleted. We are speaking here strictly about the data stored on your device and not the one on your SD card. Things like All Music, Pictures, and Video will be there safe and sound. Another nice aspect that I would point is the fact that all the application you have installed from the market can be easily restored if your smartphone is connected to the Google Account. Also you must know before starting the update this is an update for HTC Aria AT&T phone users (this to be sure you don’t start formatting your device for nothing).

We are speaking now about an official version of the Android Froyo, Beta ones being closed for some time. Also keep in mind that making this update doesn’t mean you would have to root your phone.

Here are a few things that you will find in this brand new update:

  • App Sharing: with this you will be able to share any third party application via Bluetooth and other mediums.

  • Google Latitude: most of you who know the application and already know what this does and how it helps you in every day to day things. Friends can be very easy to spot and you will be able to share your location to them.

  • Other changes like having a new PDF Reader, the once called Navigator is now the Car Panel. Things like Photos and Sound displays have been split up and now and these both have individual categories.

  • Google Navigation: With this feature added to Google Maps navigation you can benefit from a nice drive with Turn by Turn navigation.

  • Also there are Wi-Fi and USB Tethering: using these two features you can transform your smartphone into Wi-Fi spot and with the addition of USB Tethering you will be able to make use of mobile internet and even surf the computer with it. In addition, the Wi-Fi spot can power up to 8 mobile devices at once.

Now that you know what to expect from the new update let’s see what you need to do to get it.
