How To Download And Install Android 2.2 Froyo On Motorola Milestone XT720 ( Upgrade Guide )

If you have bought  Motorola Milestone XT (XT720), you may to know that the guys from Motorola has decided to not give you an update to Android 2.2 Froyo. The device comes with Android 2.1 operating system. So, the Milestone XT users will not upgrade their phones?

The guys from Motorola said that the Milestone XT720 device for markets like: Europe, USA, Canada, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific will must to remain to Android 2.1.

So, even Motorola not officially release Android 2.2 Froyo software update for Milestone XT, know that you can update to Froyo operating system by UK kernel, and by after flashing the custom ROM to the Motorola device.

Hera are the steps for How To Download And Install Android 2.2 Froyo On Motorola Milestone XT720:

Very important: if you have the Korean 2.2 ROM SBF, you must to re-flash back to the stock 2.1 ROM.

  1. First you must to download Android 2.2 nandroid backup image for Motorola Milestone XT720 device: xt720v13.ZIP.

  2. Now you must to root with SuperOneClick(the downoaded ZIP file) the Motorola Milestone XT720.

  3. You must to install OpenRcovery (also in the downloaded ZIP file, the .apk extension).

  4. Now you must to restart your device once.

  5. On the SD card (in root directory) you must to copy the “nandroid” folder.

  6. In the USB¬†connection, make sure that your SD card is not in “Mass Storage Device” mode.

  7. Now you must to run OpenRecovery application and then you must click on the “Install Recovery” button.

  8. An easy step, just click on Boot Recovery.

  9. Here you must to Restore the “stock22xxxx” backup.

  10. Now wipe / factory Reset in OpenRecovery app.

  11. And finally you must to Reboot your device.
